One
initiative that we hope to start in both Austintown and Boardman is a
project that provides kid-friendly, non-perishable, easily consumed and
vitamin fortified food to children who may need this type of food over
the weekend.
The kind of food items would be kid friendly, non-perishable,
easily-consumed and vitamin-fortified. Examples might be: single
serving cereal boxes/bowls, applesauce, raisins crackers; shelf
stable milk; 100% juice boxes; Pop-top cans of beans & franks,
chicken noodles; macaroni & cheese; fruit and/or pudding cups;
granola bars; fruit snacks; animal crackers; etc.
We would deliver the food to the school and then the school would
see that it would be delivered to the appropriate backpacks. Expected cost will be about $25 per child per
month sponsored by the churches, businesses, and people of the respective community.
